Alongside solar cells, rechargeable batteries are the most environmentally friendly alternative for supplying power to electric fencing devices without a mains connection. All 9 V battery devices can be operated with a 12 V rechargeable battery. Use rechargeable batteries to operate electric fence energizers and make a valuable contribution to environmental protection. Over 95% of the materials contained in rechargeable batteries can be recycled, whereas typical 9 V electric fence batteries are disposable.

Starter batteries for cars or tractors have decisive disadvantages for use with electric fencing equipment. They have a high self-discharge rate and are only cycle-resistant to a limited extent, i.e. they tolerate significantly fewer charging/discharging processes. The fleece batteries for 12 V electric fencing devices and solar systems are absolutely maintenance-free and work regardless of their position. They have a low self-discharge rate and very good cycle stability.
