Electric fences with long lengths can only function with good conductive fence wires. When using 2.5 mm thick steel wire, fence lengths of up to 120 km are conceivable in practice for 4-wire fences without grass cover. If only single-wire fencing is used with the same wire, the maximum possible length is reduced to 30 km.
