Animal identification is used to distinguish animals from others. Implantation is quick and easy, no anaesthetic is required. The chip is largely forgery-proof and tamper-proof. The chip usually remains functional throughout the animal's life, can be read as often as required and does not usually "migrate" through the animal's body. Knowledge is required to implement the microchip.
