Electric fences for cows are available in heights from 0.85 m to 1.05 m and can contain 1 to 2 wires.
Electric fences for cattle and suckler cows are also 0.85 m to 1.05 m high, but with 2 to 3 wires.
For small horses and ponies, electric fences are suitable in heights of 1.05 m to 1.30 m, with 2 to 3 wires.
For large horses, electric fences are available in heights from 1.30 m to 1.60 m, equipped with 2 to 3 live conductors.
Electric fences for sheep reach heights of 0.90 m to 1.05 m and have 4 to 5 wires.
Goats are fenced in with electric fences that are 1.05 m to 1.20 m high and have 4 to 6 wires.
For pigs, electric fences with heights of 0.50 m to 0.75 m are used, which are equipped with 2 to 3 wires. For outdoor fencing for domestic pigs, it is recommended to install a second wildlife-proof fence.
Electric fences for poultry vary in height from 0.60 m to 0.90 m (possibly up to 1.20 m) depending on the flight ability of the animals and contain 5 to 7 wires.
Cats and dogs are fenced in with electric fences that are 0.55 m to 0.85 m high and have 2 to 4 wires.
Fencing out animals
Electric fences to repel wild boar are 0.55 m to 0.75 m high and contain 2 to 3 wires.
To protect against wolves, electric fences up to 1.20 m high are installed and fitted with 4 to 5 wires.
Electric fences to ward off red deer reach heights of up to 1.50 m and have 5 wires.
Electric fences with a height of around 1.20 m and 5 wires are intended for protection against brown bears. The distance between the lowest wire and the ground should be a maximum of 20 cm, while the distance between the wires should be 25 cm.
Electric fences to repel otters reach a height of 0.40 m and are equipped with 4 wires.
To protect against herons, electric fences are installed at a height of around 0.75 m and contain 2 to 3 wires. If the bank is shallow, the fence is inclined towards the water surface.
Electric fences to repel martens and raccoons consist of at least 2 wires at a short distance apart, which are connected alternately to the + and - poles of the device.
To protect against hares and rabbits, electric fences are recommended at a height of around 0.55 m and contain 3 wires. To prevent rabbits from undermining the fence, an earthed wire can be laid directly on the ground under the fence. The fence should be slightly inclined towards the animal side. The recommended electric fence net is the crop protection net with a height of 0.65 m and a small mesh size.
