Digital voltmeter with switchable load resistor
Digital voltmeter with built-in load resistance to simulate animal contact. The important thing about electric fences is not the open-circuit voltage, but the voltage that the animal effectively feels when touched. This animal contact is simulated via a switchable resistor. The voltage read with the resistor switched on indicates what the animal really feels. It is easy to recognize whether there are any problems in the fence that prevent an effective current flow. These include, above all, poorly conductive strands and tapes, poor connections and inadequate earthing. Without the load resistor connected, the digital voltmeter is suitable for all measurements that can be carried out with a voltmeter, such as measuring the fence voltage, measuring the device voltage and checking the earthing.
