The individual horizontal rows of the net are connected alternately to the fence and earth connections of the electric fence energizer. The animal must touch 2 rows at the same time to feel an electric shock. Plus-minus nets can be used in very poor ground and earthing conditions. Nevertheless, the electric fence energizer must still be earthed additionally.
