Fences as night pens for transhumance

The wolf has been back for some years now. However, this poses a massive threat to livestock farmers. Many farm animals such as sheep, goats, horses, cattle and especially their young are relatively easy prey for wolves. The existing fencing for the respective farm animals is generally not sufficient to effectively ward off the wolf. An electric fence that works reliably when fencing livestock is considered by all wolf experts to be the only way to effectively fend off wolves when grazing livestock. PATURA The company always tries to offer solutions that are as practical and economically efficient as possible.

A pen made of metal fencing 90 cm or better 110 cm high (alternatively, pasture fence nets are also possible), with an electric fence made of highly conductive netting 90 cm or better 106 cm high at least 2 m apart. This creates a buffer zone between the predator and the animals to be protected. It also ensures that the animals do not run over the nets in panic. If only electric nets are used, the pen must be made correspondingly larger so that the sheep still have enough space in the pen.
